Notes for William Mayne
m.(1) Euphan Christie of Lecropt, (2) Helen Galbraith and had a total of 21 children, with "the cradle rocking for 50 years".
He succeeded his grandfather, his father having dvp.
He inherited Powis and Logie from his younger brother Edward who had acquired them in 1741 and died unmarried in 1743.

TFPL, Dec 2008, with thanks to Don McArthur: There is a Euphan Main, daughter of James Mayne pf St Ninians and Margaret Gedd, who is reported to have m. a James Alexander in Logie on 28 Feb 1764.  Presumably James was a son of William’s first marriage to Euphan Christie?  Anyhow Euphan Main’s granddaughter m. a MacArthur-Moir and their gt-grandson (d. 2004) was Chief of Clan Arthur.
