Notes for Roger (I) de Berkeley
Keats-Rowan says he was Reeve of Berkeley with his brother Ralph. She also reports that they may have come from the neighbourhood of Aumale, Seine-Maritime.
Feudal baron (2nd class) of Dunster, Glos.
Smyth, in his Lives of the Berkeleys, p. 56, traces a line from the brother Ralph to a male line of Berkeleys that died out in 1404, living at Coberly, Glos. There was a daughter Alice who marred into the family of Brugge or Bridges. I have not included this line as it is somewhat indistinct.
