Notes for Sir William Merston
I wonder if he owned the same Horton manor that the Trotters bought 200 years later. Perhaps Surrey VCH would have the answer?
Yes, vol 3, pp. 271-278 says his family owned Horton Manor for a while from 1440 and this William left it to his due. and heir Joan and it remain in the line of her first husband until the mid-seventeenth century.. Some two hundred years later it was bought by the Trotters, other P-L ancestors.
