In the 1901 census he was living at 50 Beaconsfield Rd, Twickenham, Mx with his wife and family, aged 47, born in Ireland and an artist (painter).
They may have had a fifth child, according to Eileen Powys-Lybbe. In fact two more, as below.
In the 1881 census the family in 13 Westbourne Terrace, Chiswick, Mx was:
William, Head, 28, b. Ireland
Mary, Wife, 25, b. United States
Maud, dau., 3, b. London
Sophia, dau., 1, b. London
Plus two visitors from Ireland, probably a married couple, James and Mary Saunders.
In the 1911 census he was surnamed Frye and forenames William Rawstorne and living at 43 Palewell Park, East Sheen, SW.
He and Mary then had three sons and no daughters living with them; she said she had had seven children of whom six were then living. The sons were:
William Simon(?) aged 34, a gunmaker, and married, b. in Bedford, Beds.
Leslie aged 2 1/2, b. in Leeds, Yorks,, son of William and his wife Rag.
Ernest aged 26, a gun maker, and b. in Shephers Bush, London.
Leslie (again) aged 14 and b. in Surbiton, Surrey.
