Notes for Rev Thomas Morres
Susan Snell gave me all the information about this chap, whom my grandfather only had down as “Rev J Morres” with no other information. Apparently he m. a Marian Forster, b. c. 1810, yst dau. of Thos Furley Forster (1761-1825) and his wife Susanna, dau. of Thos. Williams.
He had a third son, Arthur Philip, who is in Alumni Oxon and was vicar of Britford, Wilts in 1868, presumably taking over from Rev Richard Hill and thus allowing Edith Mary Powys to get to know and to marry Alfred Hill.

There are several mentions in the Reading Mercury of a Captain Elliott Morres whose seat was Matthew’s Green. near Wokingham. I can only wonder if he was related to this Thomas, rector at the same time.
From the same source a Rev Viscount Mountmorres was inducted into the rectorship of St Paul’s in 1934.
