Notes for Joan Lake
m. (1) Ralph Warren, (2) Tho. White.
We have various notes stating that her second husbnad, with whom she had no children, founded St John’s College, Oxford with clauses stating that up to six of his descendants should be educated there free of charge. Unfortunately, not being descended from Thomas White, we could never have benefited from this. He was a merchant of London and had been Lord mayor in the 155t3-4 and was a merchant taylor. I cannot find the references for these notes in any version of Stow’s Survey of London, whence they are supposed to have come.
