Sole lord of manor of Halifax. Applied for a licence to hold a weekly market and an annual fair at Halifax in 1584 at Francis Walsingham's hands.

The pedigree in the Suffolk PRO says that he married twice, first to Jane Waterton and second to Sibil Savil. Further his and Sibil's sons were John, George and Gregory of whom John was the father of Robert who was the father of the first Hallifax rector of Springthorp.
This is very different to the researches published in the Hallifax Antiquarian Society and needs some further investigation...
