m. (1) Bridget Michell of Stammerham, Sx, (2) Jane Martin. From the 1530-1575-1622 Hants visitations he and Bridget had 4 sons and he and Jane had a further son and 2 daus.
TFPL, June 2014: Some doubt has been expressed that he was a knight, as reported in the 1686 Visitation, together with much further information about him. I have asked for the evidence and eagerly await same. In fact, 1686 visitation apart, there is no evidence he was a knight.
Shaw’s Knights of England has this in vol 2, p. 194:
“1628m May 20. Edward Richards (Richard) of Southampton (ibid) [at Whitehall]”
From the visitation, this Soutghampton resident looks more likely to be the son of the first marriage, but with with no dates in the visitations or in other sources this is not clear.
