Notes for Ralph de Fougères Seigneur de Fougères
Fougères is in Brittany, dept Ille-et-Vilaine.

K-R: He was succeeded as seigneur by his son Henry. Fransualo may have been the eldest but died in England soon after his father died; Robert Giffard seems to have been the youngest and inherited, by the sound of things, his mother's property.

I have seen a report that Henry m. Olive, dau. of Stephen (I), count of Brittany.

A later seigneur of Fougeres, Brittany, Ralph, who is given in CP V, p. 632 with his dau. Jehanne who d. 1272, this Ralph is ancestral.  Assuming that this later Ralph was descended from Henry of Fougeres, this makes the Ralph of this entry an ancestor.  So the possibility of a link needs to be borne in mind.  Indeed this link is to be found in Weis' Ancestral Roots.

The youngest brother, Robert Giffard (d. aft 1130) held the Weare, Devon estate and had sons: Walter (d. bet. 1160-70), his successor, and Roger.  Walter's successor was Willelm and had son and successor, Walter II and dau Rohais who m. Ralph de Albemara (Dammarell).
