Arms Generally notes for Peter The Cruel King of Castile and Leon
Quarterly gules and argent, in the first and fourth quarters a tower or.and in the second and third quarters, a lion rampant purpure.

TFPL, April 2009: The College of Arms allows us to quarter these arms.  But English heraldry does not allow anyone to quarter the undifferenced royal arms; so why does the College ignore this rule when it comes to the royal arms of another country?
______________

Spanish sites today say that the arms of Castile (Quarter 1 above) are:

Gules, a three towered castle Or, masoned Sable and ajouré Azure.

But the College of Arms shows the Castile quarter as a simple, single tower.
_______________

Leon is consistently blazoned as: Argent, lion Purpure, though more modern renditions give:

Argent, a lion rampant purpure (sometimes blazoned gules) crowned Or, langued and armed gules.
