In Betham's "Baronetage of England", 1801:
"7. Sir Nicholas, the eldest son, living temp Edward II and Edward III was knight of the shire for Essex in 1308 and 1313 (vide Mulman's Essex, vol IV, p.115}. He married Alice, daughter and heir of Sir Richard Belhouse, Knt, by whom he had four sons, Nicholas, Thomas, Roger and Sir Philip, who married Margaret, daughter of Sir William Tey of Essex, Knt and was father of Nicholas Barrington of Raleigh-Park in Essez, Esq. Sister and heir to John [ is this the brother of Sir Nicholas?] was Thomazine, living temp Henry VI, who first married William Lunsford Esq (from Lunsford of Lunsford, in Sussex) secondly, William Sydney of Penshurst, in Kent, Esq (from whom the earls of Leicester descended) and thirdly she married John Hopton, Esq."
