Notes for Lady Mary Brudenell
m. (1) Richard Powys, (2), on 20 Jun 1754, Thomas Bowlby of North Bailey, Co. Durham (no issue listed).
No record found, to date, for her birth or baptism. Nor for her death - but See Below.
Her 4th & yst. brother Thomas was re-created earl of Ailesbury.
She was Chichele kin: see Stemmata Chicheleana, Table 87.

Apparently she was painted by Thomas Gainsborough. I have, so far, only obtained a black and white image of this. The Bowlby family site says this is by Gainsborough, which I have yet to confirm.
I have searched through several long lists of Gainsborough’s paintings and I cannot find this within same. So I question whether it was by Gainsborough.
The Bowlby site thinks that her portrait was purchased by the Ailesburys and is now at Deene Park, Northants.

Her burial Found! (TFPL, December 2021)
Ancestry, praise be, has a family tree that includes a reference to copy of the burial register for her death, which image has been downloaded and transcribed by me:
Deene > Parish Registers > 1813-1912
“ Page 1
“BURIALS in the Parish of Deene & Deene Thorp
“ in the County of Northampton in the Year 1813
“. . . .
“Name: Lady Mary Boulby
“Abode: London
“When buried: March 4
“Age: 96
“Celebrant: Rev Rd. Stopford ( Rector of Barton )
Notes:
(a) If this age is to be believed, she was born c. 1717
(b) I have found various baptisms asserted as evidence for hers but
they do not give the right parents, who were George and
Elizabeth Brudenell, by then earl and countess of Cardigan.
(c) Richard Stopford, the Rector, was almost certainly the Richard
who was her grandson, being the fourth son of the
second earl of Courtown who had married
Lady Mary’s daughter Mary Powys
and which Richard had married Eleanor Powys,
daughter of the first baron Lilford and
thereby first cousin three times removed from
Lady Mary’s first husband, Richard Powys of Hintlesham.
(d) Lady Mary would have been:
18 at marriage with Richard Powys,
19 at the birth of her daughter Elizabeth,
20 at the birth of her daughter Mary,
26 at the death of Richard Powys,
37 at her marriage with Thomas Bowlby,
?? unknwon at the unknown death date of Thomas Bowlby
The earlier ages correspond with the practices of landed families of that time,
so her birth in 1717 is not unreasonable.
(e) Deene was one of the Residences of the Brudenells.

Ancestry has also produced the image of the marriage register for her second marriage:
> St George, Hanover Square > 1754-1759
“(10) Marriages in June 1754
“. . . .
“No: 40
“Thomas Bowlby of this Parish Esqr. a Batchelor
“and the Rt. Honble. Lady Mary Powys of this
“Parish Widow were
“Married in this Church by Licence of the Archbishop of Canterbury
“this Twentieth Day of June in the Year One Thousand Seven
“Hundred and Fifty Four by me M Rudd Curate of this Parish
“This Marriage was solemnized between us Tho. Bowlby, Mary Powys
“In the Presence of Mary Powys Olid Silson (?)
The witness Mary Powys was must have been her daughter who did not get married until 1762.
