Notes for Anne Powys
Martin P-L writes:
Second daughter of Henley, 1655-1725. [A flagstone in Bitterley church records a precedent Anne who died in infancy.]
She married Andrew Hill, of the senior branch of the Hill family in these parts. They lived at Court of Hill, Burford. It had the Hill and Powys arms over the entrance. CAROLINE stayed there in 1771, describing both this house and Henley, which was sold next year. Court of Hill stayed in the Hill family, and the descent is shown in the Diaries. The pedigree there given, however, erroneously shows another Anne Powys married to Andrew Hill, though it is correct in marrying a third Anne to Thomas Hill, from a junior branch of the same family.
