Third son of Thomas of Henley, who died aged 18 in 1688 [1668 shurely - TFPL].
He was buried in Magdalen parish church, Oxon. His monumental inscription exudes the current pomposity:-
Edwardus Powys, filius natu tertius Thomae Powys Armigeri de Henley, agro Salopiensi, qui prosapiae (to his family) fuit ornamentum, ut illi prosapia (as his family was to him). Felix admodum naturae dotibus (blessed with natural talent) quas artium liberalium studio ingeniose auxit (increased). Scholae Salopiensi olim alumnus (once a pupil at Shrewsbury), nuper Coll. Trin. Oxon commensalis (lately a fellow of T.C.) in cuius gremio suavissime expiravit (where he died)
