The 2003 valuer wrote of it: ""Naval Captain called Marshall, unfinished portrait, possibly by Henry Eldridge"

In 1826 it was given to Lady Barrington. I surmise that it was given back to her and that she had probably owned it as he was her only brother and she was the only surviving member of their family.
